KLIFF 2014 to be held on Nov 10-13

kliff200x103KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur Islamic Finance Forum 2014 (KLIFF 2014) is scheduled to be held on Nov 10-13 at Hotel Istana, with the theme, "Positioning and Repositioning for Sustainable Globalised Market".

KLIFF is the most prominent event held annually by the Centre for Research and Training (CERT), in collaboration with the Association Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM), Amanie Advisors and Messrs. Hisham, Sobri & Kadir.

Presiden dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Pusat Pendidikan Antarabangsa Kewangan Islam (INCEIF), Daud Vicary Abdullah berkata, kewangan Islam ketika ini hanya popular disebabkan penerbitan sukuk semata-mata yang sukar difahami oleh pengguna persendirian.

Need For Lenders To Extend Role

U.K. Becomes First Western Government to Sell Islamic Bonds

wsjThe U.K. on Wednesday became the first Western nation to issue Islamic bonds, completing a plan that took more than seven years to mature.

Investors placed £2.3 billion ($3.9 billion) of orders, more than 11 times the amount of bonds on offer.

The £200 million, five-year bonds will pay investors a yield of 2.036%, in line with what the U.K. pays for conventional government bonds.
