Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Amanie Group. One of its flagship companies namely Amanie Advisors, is operating in 6 cities globally. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Shariah Advisory Council at the Central Bank of Malaysia, the Securities Commission of Malaysia and the Labuan Financial Services Authority. He is a Shariah board member of various global financial institutions, including the National Bank of Oman (Oman), Amundi Asset Management (France), Bank of London and Middle East (London), BNP Paribas (Bahrain), Dow Jones Islamic Market Index (New York), First Gulf Bank (UAE), amongst many others.

In the corporate world, he sits as a Board Director at Sime Darby Berhad and a member of the PNB Investment Committee. He is also the third Chair Professor in Islamic Banking and Finance of Yayasan Tun Ismail Mohamed Ali Berdaftar (YTI) PNB at Faculty of Economics and Muamalat, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).

In 2016, he received the “Award of Excellence for Outstanding Contribution for Shariah Leadership & Advisory” at London Sukuk Summit Awards and “Shariah Adviser Award” at The Asset Triple A Islamic Finance Award. In 2014, he received the “Most Outstanding Individual” award by His Majesty, the King of Malaysia, in conjunction with the national-level Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.  Under his leadership, Amanie Advisors received the “Islamic Economy Knowledge Infrastructure Award” at the Global Islamic Economy Summit, Dubai 2015, by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Oct 2015.

Prior to this, he was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the International Islamic University Malaysia. He received his first degree in Shariah from University of Kuwait in 1988 and obtained his PhD from University of St. Andrews, United Kingdom in 1993. In 2002, he completed his external Bachelor of Jurisprudence at University of Malaya.

His publications include articles in various academic journals and presentations of more than 150 papers in both local and international conferences. His first book entitled “Shariah Minds in Islamic Finance: An Inside Story of A Shariah Scholar” has won the “Islamic Finance Book of the Year 2016” by the Global Islamic Finance Award (GIFA). He has just released a new book on sukuk which is “An Insightful Journey to Emirates Airline Sukuk: Pushing The Boundaries of Islamic Finance” (2017).


Dr. Ahmad Faizal has been President of MERCY Malaysia since August 2009. MERCY Malaysia is a prominent home-grown International NGO from the Global South with health-related programs, emergency response, disaster risk reduction and WASH as well as programs for refugees being among of its main focus areas. Founded in 1999 amidst the Kosovo crisis, MERCY Malaysia has become one of the most recognizable names in the humanitarian world despite its relatively small size with its high impact programs, smart partnerships and strong advocacy for meaningful change in the sector. MERCY Malaysia is a member of many regional and international networks and is also one of the few Global South members of the Global Health Cluster (GHC).

Dr Ahmad Faizal became the first representative from the Global South to be elected as the Chairperson of the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA), the world’s largest network of humanitarian NGOs in 2015. As ICVA chair, he also sits on the IASC Principals, which is the highest direction and decision-making body in the humanitarian world where Dr. Faizal actively advocates on behalf of NGOs globally. The IASC is chaired by the Under-Secretary General (USG) for Humanitarian affairs/Emergency Relief Coordinator (ERC) of the United Nations (UN) and its membership includes the leadership of all the major UN humanitarian agencies. His term as ICVA Chair ends in 2018 after a total of nine years on ICVA’s Board.

He is also the Chair of Professionals in Humanitarian Assistance and Protection (PHAP), which is the world’s largest network of individual humanitarian professionals since 2016 while he also previously sat on the Boards of the Humanitarian Innovation Fund (HIF) and Advanced Training Program on Humanitarian Action (ATHA). He has also been recently appointed as a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Humanitarian Leadership (CHL).


Mohamed Rozani Osman is presently a Financial Sector Specialist with the Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation Global Practice of the World Bank in Kuala Lumpur, an assignment he started in June 2016.

He is currently working on several areas including sustainable finance, capital markets, financial sector development and financial stability monitoring in the East Asia Pacific region. He has 18 years of investment management experience, including 10 years as Head of Treasury and Liquidity Management at Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the sovereign investment fund of Malaysia.

Prior to that, he headed the fixed income teams at Mayban Investment Management and KLCS Asset Management. While there, he managed several mutual funds and discretionary portfolios. He has also managed a leveraged multi-asset portfolio focused on the US technology and financial sectors. Before entering the financial industry, he worked in the oil and gas industry.

He has a MBA from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia.


Datuk Zainal Izlan was appointed Deputy Chief Executive of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) on 5 April 2018.

He joined the SC in January 2011 as Executive Director, Islamic Capital Market and was appointed Managing Director, Development and Islamic Markets in November 2016. He is also Chairman of Capital Markets Malaysia, an entity established by the SC to promote the Malaysian capital market.

Datuk Zainal Izlan holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics (dual concentration in Accounting & Finance) from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. He has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He began his career with Citibank before joining MIDF Amanah Asset Management. Just before joining the SC, Datuk Zainal Izlan was the Chief Executive Officer of i-VCAP Management.


Nor Hanifah Hashim, Chief Executive Officer, has over 23 years of experience in the financial industry. Ms. Hashim's role, as the Chief Executive Officer of Franklin Templeton GSC Asset Management Sdn. Bhd. (FTGSC), is to work with the firm's Country Head of Malaysia on the development of business strategies and identifying market trends to formulate new shariah product ideas to increase FTGSC's market penetration in Malaysia.

Ms. Hashim joined FTGSC in 2011 as the Head of Malaysia fixed income and sukuk. She oversees fixed income in Malaysia, including conventional fixed income and domestic sukuk strategies. She continues to manage domestic sukuk funds and develops investment policies for the Malaysian market while working closely with the Franklin Templeton Fixed Income team in the Middle East on global sukuk mandates and supports Franklin Templeton's global fixed income capabilities.

Prior to joining Franklin Templeton Investments, Ms. Hashim held the position of Executive Vice President - Head of Fixed Income, CIMB - Principal Asset Management Berhad, and, before that, Senior Vice President and Head of Fixed Income Services in the treasury department of CIMB Investment Bank.

Ms. Hashim holds a B.S. in economics and international relations from University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a national member of Financial Market Association - Malaysia and obtained her Capital Markets Services Representative License (CMSRL) in 2004.


Meor Amri Meor Ayob is the Chief Executive Officer of Bond Pricing Agency Malaysia Sdn Bhd. Over the years, Meor has progressively developed BPAM's core business to become the principal source of valuation and data reference on the Malaysian Sukuk and Bond market.

He continues to reinforce BPAM's position as a specialist in valuation and to expand its reach with its stable of innovative products, providing world class data in keeping with Malaysia's leading position in the global Sukuk market.

He has written a number of articles for various journals on credit as well as valuation issues. He is also viewed as a subject-matter-expert and has been engaged by many institutions including regulators to conduct lectures and training.

He has also been appointed as a FAA Accreditation Panel member. The FAA or Finance Accreditation Agency is an international and independent quality assurance and accreditation body supported by Bank Negara Malaysia and Securities Commission Malaysia. As a panel member, his role is to provide input on the various learning initiatives within the Finance Services Industry.

He has a Masters of Business Administration with specialisation in Finance from the International Islamic University, Malaysia. He also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Kent in Canterbury, United Kingdom.

Prior to this position, he has been with Rating Agency Malaysia, Malaysia's first rating agency, since 1994 and his last posting was Head of Financial Institutions Ratings division. He was also a central banker with Bank Negara Malaysia between 1992 and 1994.


Mohamad Safri Shahul Hamid ('Safri') is currently the Deputy CEO of CIMB Islamic / CIMB Group Islamic Banking. Safri first joined CIMB Islamic as one of its pioneer members in 2003 and was credited for a number of ground-breaking, “world’s first” and award-winning transactions - the notable ones include all the exchangeable sukuk transactions by Khazanah Nasional Berhad, first rated corporate sukuk in the Middle East, world's first hybrid sukuk issuance, world's first rated Musyarakah securitization (ABS) sukuk, world’s first Islamic Residential Mortgage Backed-Securities (RMBS), world’s first Renminbi-denominated sukuk by Khazanah Nasional Berhad, world’s largest Renminbi-denominated sukuk by Axiata, world’s first stapled Islamic REITS as well as the inaugural and historic global sukuk issuances by the Governments of the UK and Hong Kong, respectively.

Safri is directly in charge of the CIMB Group Islamic Wholesale banking business comprising debt and equity capital markets, corporate financing and treasury. He is the Chairman of the Malaysian Investment Banking Association’s Islamic Capital Market Committee and is a member of the following CIMB Group Committees:

Safri sits on the boards of CIMB Islamic Trustee Berhad, CIMB Commerce Trustee Berhad and CIMB Trust Limited.

Safri had previously served as Director & Regional Head of Islamic Structuring (Asia) at Deutsche Bank DIFC Dubai in 2008, during which he was involved in the structuring and marketing of sukuk, Islamic structured products and derivatives. Between 2000 and 2003, Safri was attached to Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad (MARC); he was in charge of the ratings of Islamic instruments as well as development of rating symbols & methodologies for sukuk - another world's first.

Safri holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the International Islamic University Malaysia and an MBA (Globalization) from Maastricht School of Management, The Netherlands. He is a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountant (MIA).


JAL OTHMAN, 48 years old, heads the Islamic Finance practice in Shook Lin & Bok, one of the oldest and largest law firm in Malaysia. Jal was instrumental in setting up the Islamic Finance practice and continues to chart the course of this practice area within the Firm. His task include setting the policy direction for the incremental development of this area of practice within the Firm and developing a structured research and development unit to promote an effective continuing legal education scheme within the Firm.

Jal heads a team of approximately 20 lawyers advising on Islamic finance deals. Leveraging on 16 years of experience as a banking and finance lawyer, Jal guides and leads his team in the retail, mezzanine and tier one financing deals, both for onshore and cross border clients. His portfolio of work includes advising on a wide range of sukuk issuances for financing power plants in Malaysia and China, vessel construction, project fnancing for the automotive industry, the textile and garment industry, the downstream and upstream palm oil industry, advising on Islamic structured products and Islamic syndicated financing.

Jal is also actively involved in the drive for innovation in the industry and in this respect Jal leads the team advising on various product developments for Islamic banks, both in Malaysia and abroad.

Jal started as a conventional banking and finance lawyer and kindled his passion for Islamic Finance at the same time that Malaysia embraced this form of financing. Given the inherent interplay between Shariah and Common Law in Malaysia, Jal’s experience in conventional financing has held him in good stead in the area of Islamic Finance.

In addition to Islamic Finance, Jal’s other major areas of practice are corporate commercial law and real estate. His experience in advising on some major cross border mergers and acquisition and real estate acquisitions have benefited him in his role as an Islamic Finance lawyer. Jal is the deputy head of the conventional banking and finance department.

Concurrent with managing his portfolio in the Firm, Jal is also very much involved in the Islamic finance industry. Jal holds positions in INCEIF University (an institution established under the auspices of the Malaysian Central Bank). Jal has also been commissioned by the Malaysian Securities Commission and the Rating Agency of Malaysia in relation to product development and regulatory requirements. Jal is also involved in law reform with his involvement in the Malaysian Central Bank committee for Islamic Finance Law Reform.

Jal also sits on the technical committees of the Malaysia Accounting Standards Board (“MASB”) and the Malaysia Institute of Accountants (“MIA”). Additionally, he is also a moderator with the Finance Accreditation Agency (“FAA”) and an arbitrator for Islamic Finance with the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (“KLRCA”). Jal is also a chapter reviewer and contributor for the International Shariah Research Academy (“ISRA”).

Consistent with the Firm’s policy of driving a global presence, Jal has participated on various international platforms as a speaker, moderator, panelist and commentator. These include conferences, workshops and forums in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Egypt and Singapore.

After graduating from Queen Mary & Westfield College of the University of London and after completing the Malaysian Bar examinations, Jal commenced his pupilage in Shook Lin & Bok and continued his employment with the Firm, culminating in his admission as a partner in 2001. He continued his progression within the Firm with his elevation as a senior partner of the Firm in 2004.


Yew Wee joined Daiwa Capital Markets Singapore as Director, Head of Malaysia Coverage, Investment Banking, Asia Pacific (ex-Japan). Prior to Singapore, he worked for Daiwa Hong Kong since 2006. He had also been based in Tokyo between 2002 and 2006, working at the International Finance Department of Daiwa Securities SMBC.

He has been involved and has successfully completed a number of public offerings in both Japan and Asia ex-Japan done by various Asian companies, especially both debt and equity financing businesses of Asia and Japanese issuers.

He holds a Master of Economics from the Graduate School of Economics, The University of Tokyo. He is fluent in Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese, Minanese), Bahasa Malaysia and English.


Faizal Shebli is a senior technology consultant with over 15 years experience in technology development (big data analytics, enterprise architecture, blockchain technology) business development, including leadership, management, hands-on positions in IT, marketing, business transformation and operations, strategic planning and execution in a diverse range of companies and operating environments. He is specialised in providing advisory and IT implementation strategy on Big Data Analytics and executed his work to few of his clients such as Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), Natural Resource Environment (NRE), Telekom Malaysia (TM), Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) and Sarawak State Government.

He obtained a computer science degree from University of Lincoln UK and Higher National Diploma in electronic engineering from Swansea Institute UK. He currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His interests include Big Data, Blockchain and Decentralise Ledger Technology (DLT). He recently being certified as Certified Blockchain Expert from

Dave Appleton started programming in 1968 and is currently the lead blockchain developer for HelloGold in Malaysia and a senior Advisor at Akomba Labs in Singapore.

HelloGold offers a shariah compliant savings system using gold to bring a better means of saving to those not well served by the finance industry.


Ong Eu Jin is a corporate partner of Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill. The firm’s Financial Services Practice Group, which he is a part of, actively advises on the structure and legal documentation of bond issuances. Prior to joining the firm, he was the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of a subsidiary of a financial services group for seven years, where he was actively involved in all aspects of the trusteeship and administration of bonds.

He has seen a number of bond defaults and was involved in the recovery process against the issuers and the security parties. Eu Jin, a non-practicing solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, holds an MBA from Edinburgh Business School and a Master of Laws (International Banking and Finance) from University College London.


Nitish Bhojnagarwala is a Vice President – Senior Credit Officer with Moody’s Financial Institutions Group. Based in Dubai, Nitish covers a portfolio of large conventional as well as Islamic financial institutions in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey.

Nitish joined Moody’s in 2011, and has led sukuk roundtables and conducted workshops on Banking and Islamic finance at various conferences in the Middle East, Europe and Asia. Nitish has also authored several research pieces, with a focus on regional banking, credit issues and issuer-in-depths for conventional as well as Islamic banks.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Nitish spent five years at Tamweel in the Treasury function. He has also worked for KPMG in the UAE, where he covered financial institutions. Nitish holds an MBA from S P Jain Institute of Management & Research, with a major in Finance (Investment Banking).


Dr Engku Rabiah Adawiah is a Professor at IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She obtained her LLB (first class honors), LLB (Shari’ah) (first class honors) and Masters of Comparative Laws (MCL) from the IIUM. In 1998, she was conferred with PhD in law from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom. Currently she teaches post-graduate students at IIiBF. Her research interest is in Islamic capital market, Islamic banking and finance, Islamic insurance or takaful and Islamic law of transaction. Her publications include books, articles in local and international journals and periodicals; and chapters in books and proceedings. She has presented in various conferences, seminars, workshops and in-house trainings on Islamic Banking, Finance and Capital Market.

She had also served as a member of Shari’ah Committee to many financial institutions in the past. Currently, she is a member of the Syariah Advisory Council of Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia), Securities Commission Malaysia, Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA), Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and an independent Shari’ah Advisor for Islamic securities (sukuk) issuance, approved by and registered with the Malaysian Securities Commission. In addition, she is also a member of the Shari`ah Board of Labuan Re, Gen Re and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, a member of the Board of Directors in the Malaysian Institute of Islamic Understanding, a member of the disciplinary committee for the Malaysian Bar Council and a member of Panel Pakar Syariah JAKIM and Panel Pakar Muamalat JAKIM respectively. She is also a member of the Shari`ah Board to Khazanah in relation to four of its exchangeable sukuk.

In recognizance of her works and contributions to Islamic Finance, she has been twice awarded with the Most Outstanding Individual Contribution to Islamic Finance by Deloitte in 2004 and again in 2014 in Kuala Lumpur Islamic Finance Forum (KLIFF 2014). Being the pioneer lady Shariah scholar in Islamic finance, locally and globally, she has also been listed numerous times in the list of influential women in Islamic finance, including: Top 10 Women in Islamic Finance (2014 and 2017); Top 20 Women in Islamic Finance (2017); and Top 10 Most Influential Women in Finance (2017), where she was ranked No. 4. Recently, she has been ranked as 3rd Most Influential Women in Islamic Finance 2018 during the WOMANi Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony by Cambridge IF Analytica Limited.


Nasha Phedra is the Regional Head of Islamic Legal at CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Economics/Law from the University of Tasmania, Australia and brings with her 19 years of working experience, with exposure in Wholesale, Corporate, Commercial, Consumer and Transaction Banking as well as Asset Management. Prior to joining us she was with HSBC Amanah providing counsel, legal support and guidance on Islamic banking to various business lines. She has also worked with Maybank Group, BSN and Securities Commission.



Dato' Faiz is the Executive Chairman of PwC Malaysia and was the leader of PricewaterhouseCoopers Global Islamic Finance Team practice from 2007 to 2012.

Dato' Faiz has over 30 years’ experience in the audit and business advisory services of financial institutions in Malaysia. He has led a number projects relating to strategy, investigations and merger work both locally and internationally. Dato' Faiz is also the Project Director leading the team on the Accrual Accounting project with the Accountant General’s office. He has also acted as the Administrator for a National Airline.

Dato' Faiz serves on the boards of several professional bodies. Among others, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has held the post of the President of Malaysian Institute of Accountants, Chairman of the Malaysia Accounting Standards Board, and ICAEW City Group Chairman. He is a member of The Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals and chairs the Asian-Oceanian Standard-Setters Group on Islamic Finance. He is also the Chairman of the Islamic Finance Consultative Group of the International Accounting Standards Board. He currently sits on the Financial Reporting Foundation, a member of the International Advisory Panel of Labuan International Business Financial Centre (Labuan IBFC) and is the President of the Kuala Lumpur Business Club.

Dato' Faiz was educated in Malaysia and UK and read law at the University of Durham before being called to the English Bar. He is also a Liveryman of the City of London, and a member of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Accountants England and Wales. He was conferred an honorary degree of Doctorate of Laws by the University of Nottingham in July 2016.


Deepak Sadasivan graduated from King's College London with an LLB (Hons) degree. He was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales at Lincoln’s Inn in July 1993 and the Malaysian Bar in June 1994. He began his career as a legal assistant at the firm from January 1995 to December 1999 and became a Partner in January 2000.

In the first 5 years of his practice, he was extensively involved in corporate work including acquisitions, listings, joint ventures and corporate restructuring exercises, as well as corporate and commercial litigation. Since 1999, he has been primarily involved in capital markets and finance work, and has advised extensively on numerous transactions involving project finance, Islamic finance, derivatives, structured finance and securitisation.

His experience includes banking work such as capital market financing, security documentation, straight financing, corporate work such as acquisitions, listings, joint ventures, restructuring and corporate and commercial litigation work. He is particularly experienced in structuring and documenting Islamic financing transactions.

His early finance experience included acting for Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Berhad and a syndicate of arrangers, underwriters and the agent in relation to a USD540 million syndicated term loan facility taken by the Government of Malaysia, advising Danamodal Nasional Berhad (an agency of the Central Bank of Malaysia) and Salomon Smith Barney on the recapitalisation of various Malaysian financial institutions during the 1997 – 1998 Asian financial crisis.

His Islamic finance experience includes (i) advising the lead managers in relation to the issuance of USD750 million exchangeable sukuk with recourse to Khazanah Nasional, being the world's first exchangeable sukuk (and also the largest ever exchangeable issuance in Malaysia), (ii) advising on the first Islamic stapled securities transaction in Malaysia, (iii) advising on the first municipal bonds in Malaysia (being also the first bonds to employ a parallel mudharabah Islamic structure) and advising the Central Bank of Malaysia on the template documentation for an Islamic Derivatives Master Agreement.

He is also extensively involved in project finance work having advised on, inter alia, (i) the raising of RM2.5 billion in term loans and equity funding for the financing of Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (SYABAS)’s undertaking of the privatisation of water supply in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, (ii) a USD700 million facility granted to the Titan Group and (iii) an issuance of up to RM900 million nominal value of Senior Sukuk and up to RM230 million nominal value of Junior Sukuk by MRCB Southern Link Berhad in connection with financing the development, design, construction, management, operation and maintenance of the expressway known as the Eastern Dispersal Link, Johor Bahru.

In particular, his power project finance work includes (i) advising BNP Paribas Malaysia Berhad and CIMB Investment Bank Berhad in the provision of project finance of RM4 billion to TNB Western Energy Berhad for the construction of a coal fired power plant; financing was achieved through the implementation of a one off issuance of up to RM4 billion Sukuk involving the Islamic principle of Ijarah; (ii) advising HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad and KAF Investment Bank Berhad in relation to a Sukuk issuance of up to RM2.0 billion in nominal value based on the Islamic principle of Ijarah and Wakalah by TNB Northern Energy Berhad, a subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad for the financing of a 1071.43 MW combined cycle gas fired power plant in Prai, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia; (iii) advising Affin Investment Bank Berhad and Maybank Investment Bank Berhad, the joint principal advisers and join lead arrangers, in connection with a RM710 million Islamic medium term notes programme undertaken by Ranhill Powertron II Sdn Bhd; (iv) advising AmInvestment Bank Berhad in relation to a Sukuk issuance of up to RM2.0 billion in nominal value based on the Islamic principle of Ijarah by Kapar Energy Venture Berhad; and (v) advising a consortium of banks in the provision of project finance of RM6 billion to SKS-Tanjung Bin for the construction of a 3 x 700 mw coal fired power plant; financing was achieved through the implementation of an RM5.6 billion Islamic medium term note programme involving (for the first time in Malaysian capital markets) the Islamic principle of Istisna.


Najmuddin Mohd Lutfi is currently the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of BIMB Investment Management Berhad (“BIMB Investment”). BIMB Investment was incorporated in 1993 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad.

Najmuddin repositioned BIMB Investment as an environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) Islamic asset management house integrating Shariah principles and ESG values. The firm has also embraced financial technology (“FinTech”) in its portfolio management in delivering sustainable risk adjusted investment returns for individual and institutional investors. In November 2015, the firm launched the first artificial intelligence and global shariah ESG fund in Malaysia. The fund, a multi-currency, global Shariah-ESG equity fund is now the largest global shariah equity fund in Malaysia and ranks #1 for one year performance.

The firm was named Best Asset and Fund Manager in Malaysia in 2017 by Alpha South East Asia, a regional investment and finance publication.

He was formerly an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in the Investment Management Division, an Assistant Director at CIMB-Principal Asset Management and a Deputy Director at Bank Negara Malaysia. He has more than 18 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Najmuddin graduated with an MBA and Bachelor of Science of Business Administration from the University of Missouri – St. Louis, USA, registered with the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia (FIMM) and holds the Securities Commission’s Capital Markets Services Representative’s License.


Norhizam Abdul Kadir (or Hizam) brings with him almost 20 years’ experience in multi-market technology and energy industries in various markets across Asia Pacific. He was with Intel, Microsoft and Ballard Power System before joining MDEC as Vice President in 2015. He has wide experience in corporate marketing, end-customer sales, business development, communications and channel marketing and enablement.

He is also responsible in enriching Malaysia’s startup ecosystem by engaging and redomiciling global ecosystem players such as key internet companies, accelerators, talent providers, venture capitals, and startup communities. He also leads the Bumiputera Internet Economy initiative that aims to upskill Bumiputera ICT companies and getting their products and services to be recognized regionally and globally.


Effendy Zulkifly is the Certified Blockchain Expert and the CEO of Blockchain Academy Asia based in Malaysia and Indonesia. He is also the Founder of Crypto Valley Malaysia. Both organisations (Blockchain Academy Asia and Crypto Valley Malaysia) were founded to enhance the blockchain community in Asia Region and to build more professional and educated people in Blockchain Ecosystem.
